The Counter Sales person isprimarily responsible for selling and promoting HVAC products in-person at the sales counter and/or over the phone.  Quotes product prices on standard items, enters orders into computer system, and relays pertinent order information to the customer. 

Responsibilities

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Receives and processes requests directly from customer for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations. Determines customer needs and makes price quotations immediately on standard items. May offer substitute products where appropriate. • Uses computer system to retrieve customer information, stock status information, the status of purchase orders, and makes changes as needed. Enters orders accurately in the computer system in a timely manner. Ensures that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information. • Follows up on orders by checking the computer system and with other departments for delivery information. Works closely to expedite delivery of scheduled shipments and communicates information to customer. • Increases business by selling and promoting products to customers in addition to taking orders. • Exhibits friendly and helpful attitude. Establishes and maintains customer relationships by solving customer problems, utilizing product knowledge to satisfy customer needs, and offering outstanding customer-focused service. • Participates in product meetings, seminars and training schools to enhance and maintain product knowledge. • Accurately receives material coming into the facility and unloads trucks in a prompt manner. • Verifies the quantity and description of materials • Stocks materials on shelves in designated area. • Assembles and fills orders to be shipped from stock and places orders on pallets, shelves or Hercules trucks. Verifies quantities and items being shipped against the customer order ticket. Marks material with identifying information using appropriate method. • Assists customers in loading their orders. • Prepares parcels for shipping or mailing. • Keen attention to detail is required and ability to meet deadlines. • Excellent attendance record required. • Ability to work overtime as needed. • Ability to transport, gather, distribute and stock material in a safe, efficient, manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: • High School diploma or GED required. • Knowledge of HVAC parts and nomenclature. • Qualified applicants must be customer oriented and motivated with excellent verbal communication skills and strong phone skills. • Ability to analyze customer needs and to recommend the proper course of action. • Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements. • Must possess ability to keep abreast of product applications and technology trends. • Exhibits ability to consider all aspects of selling, including vendor relationships, profit and loss concepts and overall profitability goals of the branch. • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers to aid in satisfying customer requirements. • Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements. • Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screen. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write and read routine reports or job orders. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees within the organization. Ability to speak, read and hear English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a documents and instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements. ATTENDANCE DEMANDS: Attendance is required Monday through Friday within normal business hours as established by the Warehouse Supervisor. Employee may be required to work overtime. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grasp and lift and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb and balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Employee would be working both inside and outside and on elevated balconies.
