The primary function is managing the facility manufacturing/warehouse/inventory control and costing, fleet, and production efficiencies. This role will also implement solid process management functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the facility operations relating to labor, material, and efficiencies. Also, responsible for managing inventory and managing manufacturing processes to support growth and to maximize profitability. Supports Company initiatives and provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors.


  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Develops, implements, trains, and modifies methods to improve personnel safety, productivity, and quality. • Collects and analyzes facility manufacturing and warehouse data to find elements for improvement; creates time sensitive action plan to improve upon operation; triggers and directs corrective actions. • Oversees and directs manufacturing employee time on a daily/weekly. Coordinates adjustments with staff as appropriate. • Directs the accuracy of fabrication job packets for time/labor hours, dollars, and pounds. Ensures that correct material is issued and reconciled against the work-order. Develops the necessary systems for synchronization between customer/sales expectations and work instructions for shop and warehouse. • Ensures a documented maintenance program is executed for shop assets and maintains preventative maintenance initiatives. • Manage coil and flat sheet inventory; utilize weekly report to verify levels are correct. Coordinates shop material needs of raw materials with Steel Processing and/or Branch Purchasing. • Responsible for shop floor-stock and accounting for all floor-stock counts; this will require regular interaction with production coordinators, Shop Superintendent and Branch Warehouse. Correct and monitor manufacturing inventory discrepancies on a regular basis. Researches and resolves manufacturing inventory discrepancies in order to uncover source and basis for discrepancies and will implement processes to minimize reoccurrence. • Minimizes non-productive/slow-moving manufacturing and warehouse inventory by promptly addressing overstock, slow-moving and dead items. Coordinates methods and means to consume usable raw materials in the manufacturing/fab process. • Analyzes order filling and errors; identifies process or procedural breakdowns which may contribute to sales/production/warehouse/fabrication inaccuracies. Acts to correct and implement new processes that have measurable outcomes. • Drive production efficiencies by monitoring and effectively communicating information related to material and labor dollars, and timeliness. Directs the production of efficiencies report weekly. • Contribute to improving manufacturing operations by offering potential alternatives to existing operational methods, equipment layout, and overall process flow. • Participates in product meetings, seminars and training to enhance and maintain professional and product knowledge. • Drives the research on standard versus actual labor hour variances that are +/- 10%. Manages the trend analysis on these variances and adjusts labor standards when sufficient evidence warrants. • Share a trusting relationship with the manufacturing workgroup; manage and develop plant staff. Addresses shop employees’ issues or grievances as they arise. • Facilitates strong working relationship with Local 9 Business Manager and Agents to support and enhance solid Contractor / Union relationship. • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: • High school degree or GED; minimum 3 years related experience or combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities. • General knowledge of products and pricing. • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time constraints and strict deadlines. • Intermediate working knowledge of PC environment and MS Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook. • Keen attention to detail and good analytical skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Strong leadership skills • Familiarity with general office procedures. • Ability to pass a background check and drug test. *Typical Hiring Range is $75,000-$85,000 Salary commensurate with qualifications.
